Metallica/Lou Reed Project Details Emerge

June 21, 2011

Ever since news surfaced that Metallica was working with Lou Reed, fans were left in the dark about what that meant for Metallica. Was the band going soft? Has James lost his voice? Is Lou Reed a closet diabolical mastermind who is brainwashing the band? Maybe. But fans can rest a little easier now that new details have emerged that say the band is still crunching nasty riffs and speeding toward oblivion. What a relief. The raw material for the collaboration came from a series of songs Reed had penned for a theatrical production called Lulu based on stories by German author Frank Wedekind. Metallica to Release Album with Lou Reed

June 16, 2011

After rumors surfaced of a Metallica collaboration on a project that was “not 100% Metallica”, fans were left in the dark as to what exactly that meant, until now.  Metallica has just revealed that they completed work on 10 new songs with rock legend Lou Reed.  Reed, who made some of the best rock and roll of all time with the Velvet Underground and later as a solo musician with hits like Take a Walk on the Wild Side and Perfect Day met Metallica at a 2009 show at Madison Square Garden and had been tossing around the idea which led to months of recording and now a finished album that we hope to see sooner rather than later. Here’s Lour Reed and Metlalica playing the VU’s Sweet Jane:
